Message from the Director

Welcome (Akwaaba!!!) to the Directorate of Consular and General Services (DC&GS). The primary objective of this webpage is to provide information on the services offered by the Directorate to University staff, students, and the general public. The information that is currently available will be updated regularly. As a result, DC&GS welcomes suggestions, comments, and criticism to build on this modest beginning. Thank you.

The Directorate of Consular and General Services exists to provide support services for the achievement of the University’s mandate.

Objectives

To ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective General and Consular Services to the University community and its stakeholders.

 

Core Values of DCGS

As a Directorate, we are guided by a set of principles subscribed to and upheld by the staff which provides general guidelines towards the realisation of the vision of the University in general that of the Directorate in particular. The Core Values are:

Diligence

Staff of the Directorate are hardworking and this permeates all aspects of duties and roles assigned to them. Our staff have constant and earnest efforts to accomplish tasks assigned. They have always been careful and pay close attention to details to get tasks well executed.

Loyalty

To be able to achieve our objectives, staff of the Directorate are committed to their work, which enables them to be loyal to the Directorate in particular and the University in general. Staff are faithful and committed to the Directorate and its leaders.

Gallantry

Our staff exhibit brave behaviour and show polite intention to all our customers and visitors.

Our staff always ensure that customers understand them in their dealings with them. They are honest, open, frank and direct in their approach to solving problems.

SECTIONS AND UNITS

The Section handles Consular issues such as issuing of introductory letters for Visas to High Commissions/Embassies. It also deals with immigration matters such as passports renewal, resident and work permits for foreign staff. The Section is headed by a Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR)

The Press is dedicated to providing communication solutions through printing and related services to a wide range of customers which include the University, staff and students, educational institutions, and other government entities both in Cape Coast and beyond. The Section is headed by an Assistant Registrar (AR)

The Transport Section of the University serves as a vehicular hub upon which the institution revolves. The Section seeks to apply innovative ways to resolve transportation challenges of the University as well as provide efficient services to individual clients and garages using highly trained and motivated personnel.

The mandate of the Section is to ensure the safety and security of lives and properties of resident students, teaching and non-teaching staff and others who stay within and outside the University Community.

The Unit is mandated by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Act 537 with a broad objective of prevention and management of undesired fires and other emergencies. The services provided by the Fire and Safety Unit include the following: (a) Firefighting, suppression and control. (b) Rescue of persons and animals trapped in a fire, buildings, vehicles, etc.

The core mandate of the Section is to ensure an effective and efficient mail delivery both local and foreign to members of the University Community. The Post Room supports the University in relation to the delivery of personal and official correspondence to staff and the various offices.

The Pre- Tertiary Section is made up of the following Units: University Basic School [Kindergarten (UKG), Primary (UPS), Junior High School (UJHS) and University Basic School (North Campus)] and the University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS).
